Mercer County has been tentatively selected for a project that officials believe will help the county take a huge technological leap into the 21st century when it comes to booking and processing criminals.

The Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association's Grants Division told the Mercer County Prison Board and Intermediate Punishment Program coordinator Donald Fedorczyk via an April 29 letter that Mercer County is one of six to have been tentatively selected to receive a state-of-the-art central booking system that district attorney and prison board member James P. Epstein said will be like something seen on the television show "CSI."
