Reynolds School directors are hoping to secure a "Cops in Schools" grant for the district in order to provide a full-time police presence at the schools. The only problem is that the school board cannot request the grant. It has to be initiated by Pymatuning Township supervisors, who don't want the grant because they say they lack the money to back it up. The three-year grant would provide up to $40,000 a year, or $125,000 over three years for a full-time police man or woman to patrol school property. The grant requires the township to have plans in place to pay for the position in the fourth year. |
