Perhaps it's every girl's dream to attend her senior prom. But one local girl says she was crushed after school officials told her mother on Monday she couldn't go to the prom without a date.

Stephanie Coutryer, 18, of Sharon, was planning to go stag to next Friday's prom at Tiffany's Ballroom, Brookfield. She was going to take her cousin for the grand march and for pictures, before enjoying the night with her classmates.

"I'm graduating and I wanted to go this year," she said. "I didn't know the rules and regulations said I couldn't go stag. So I guess they don't want me to go," she said Monday.
