After borrowing a large sum of money to pay unexpected debt and months of trying to figure out how the Western Pennsylvania Health Care Consortium incurred that debt, Sharon City School Directors Tuesday voted unanimously to withdrawn from the consortium. Directors also voted to join the Midwestern Health Combine effective July 1. Coverage and benefits for the district's faculty and staff will remain the same under the new health care provider, Board President Melvin Bandzak said. The combine has been in business since the early 1980s and services 15 school districts in Lawrence and Mercer counties. Each district has their own premium based on their individual plans. |
