By Jeff Greenburg In a little more than 30 days, those who depend on county human services like a drowning man does a life preserver will face a funding crunch that some say could pull them under. When the state's fiscal year comes to an end June 30, so will the flow of millions of human services dollars to agencies and their clients in need of drug and alcohol and mental health treatment. Under Gov. Ed Rendell's proposed budget, which becomes official July 1, $48 million is being cut from mental health and drug and alcohol treatment programs and $33 million from the Human Services Development Fund. |
