Thirteen-year-old Brittany Buhovecky and her family couldn't be more grateful for the love and support they have received from the community to guide them through her battle with leukemia.

"Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart," said Brittany's mother, Mary Ann Buhovecky.

At a ceremony Wednesday at Monsignor Geno Monti School, the eighth-grade student was given two checks totaling $6,260.

"It was unexpected and it was very, very nice," Mrs. Buhovecky said.
