If he had to do it all over again, Al Martino would have catered his music more to his Italian heritage. "If I had done that, I think it would have been better for me," said Martino, who will sing with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in five upcoming concerts, including one June 2 in New Castle. Martino did pretty well as it was by concentrating on pop music. He charted 33 times with songs such as "Here In My Heart" "Spanish Eyes" and "Love Theme From 'The Godfather.' " But pop fans tend to be fickle and pop music is based on new material, he said. An artist might have to record many songs before one of them makes a splash on the charts. |
