With the help of U.S. Rep. Phil English, Patricia Buck of Grove City is one step closer to seeing a bill passed that would improve the U.S. Department of Agriculture's enforcement of safety standards for meat and poultry.

English and Ms. Buck held a news conference Thursday at the Hermitage municipal building to promote "The Meat and Poultry Pathogen Reduction and Enforcement Act of 2003."

Also known as "Kevin's Law," the bill is named after Ms. Buck's grandson, Kevin Kowalcyk, who died at the age of 2è on Aug. 11, 2001, after eating beef contaminated with E. coli.
