2 men hurt
in collision
of car, rig

Two Shenango Township men were seriously injured at 3:54 a.m. Friday in a head-on collision between their car and a tractor-trailer on Broadway Avenue in Hermitage, police said.

Hurt were the driver, James M. Griffin, 20, of 88 Mitchell Road, and a passenger, Matthew P. Takash, 20, of 793 Wheatland Road. Police said Takash was flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, but a spokesperson said the hospital did not have a record of treating him.

Griffin was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, police said. A hospital spokesman could not be reached for a condition report Friday afternoon.

Police said the westbound Griffin car crossed the center line into the path of a truck driven by Glenn Angle.
