By Patrecka F. Adams Herald Staff Writer Students at Addison Elementary School in Brookfield have shown they can master reading and mathematics, regardless of their school's poverty level. And by doing so, the school has been named one of the state's "Schools of Promise," a new program of the Ohio Department of Education. The program satisfies a recommendation made by the state board of education's Closing Achievement Gaps task force. The school reported a 75 percent or above proficiency on state tests for the 2001-02 school year, though students live in poverty levels of 50 percent or higher. |
