Today is National Hunger Awareness Day, a day that is recognized across the nation, addressing the issue of child hunger. At one time or another 19 million children will experience a meal loss, said Michael Wright, director of the Shenango Valley Community Food Warehouse. "This day recognizes that fact. And we want to call attention to that fact," he said. While the local government and county commissioners have proclaimed the day, local residents are also being asked to participate by giving up the price of their lunch today and donating it to the Community Food Warehouse, 821 Broadway Ave., Farrell. |
