Buchanan Manor, 73 Mercer Ave., Wheatland, is in need of volunteers to help residents up and down the stairways.

The manor's elevator broke on Monday. But the part needed to fix the elevator has to be custom-made and will take six weeks to come in, said Teah Crew, service coordinator.

Buchanan Manor has five floors of about 42 fragile residents, both elderly and disabled.
