ZZ Top,
Ted Nugent
to jam
at ballroom

ZZ Top will be "Sharp Dressed Men" while Ted Nugent, known for wearing a loincloth on stage, makes the fashion world cringe Aug. 31 at Yankee Lake Ballroom.

The Yankee Lake Jam also will feature regional bands such as the Benders, Left End and the Fuzz.

ZZ Top, a power trio from Texas, were probably the first non-rodeo event to bring farm animals to American stadiums during the '70s, while blasting out rockers such as "Tush," "La Grange" and "Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers," which gave the band the name of its current tour.

After a three-year vacation, the band returned to form with classic rock staples "Pearl Necklace" and "Party on the Patio" before embracing synthesizers with their biggest success, the "Eliminator" album and top tunes "Legs," "Under Pressure" and "Gimme All Your Lovin.' "

Nugent first came to notoriety as a member of Detroit's Amboy Dukes, which found a place in the psychedelic '60s with "Journey to the Center of the Mind."

Nugent turned solo in the '70s and never looked back after "Stranglehold" and "Hey Baby" took the radio airwaves.

The Motor City Madman's other hits include "Cat Scratch Fever," "Free-For-All," "Great White Buffalo" and "Wango Tango."

Gates open at 11 a.m. with the music starting at 1:30 p.m. Four bands will play before Nugent and ZZ Top get their shots.

Tickets: at the Yankee Lake Party Shop, (330) 758-1557 and www.bandbbackstage.com

Information: (330) 799-3111.
