By Sherris Moreira-Byers Herald Staff Writer An ordinance described as "the best of both worlds" by solicitor Robert G. Kochems when it comes to dealing with the spreading of treated sewage was unanimously approved by Jackson Township supervisors Thursday evening. The supervisors and their solicitor began work on the ordinance and its legality after residents raised a ruckus a year ago over the spreading of the treated waste on about 900 acres in the township. The land is owned by Roy J. Neer of Slippery Rock Township. The treated waste came from Allegheny County Sanitary Authority. Kochems said previously that the ordinance tried to balance the legal rights of township residents to be protected from possible health and environmental problems and protecting the township from lawsuits. |
