Commonwealth Court has set a deadline of July 14 for Joann Jofery, attorney for the Wheatland residents who sought to leave Farrell Area School District, to submit a legal brief fleshing out her appeal, a court spokesman said.

The court received the trial record Wednesday from Mercer County Common Pleas Court, the spokesman said. The record most likely includes all legal papers filed in the case and a transcript of court proceedings, he said.

Once Ms. Jofery, who can ask for a filing extension, files her brief, district solicitor James Nevant II will have the opportunity to respond.
