Market's selling point will be local vendors

A farmers market that solely supports local produce vendors is set to begin growing in Coolspring Township Friday.

Sponsored by Munnel Run Farm on state Route 58, the locally grown produce will be sold on the grounds of Woodland Place, Inc., which adjoins the farm. The Mercer Area Farmers Market will be held Friday evenings.

"Because the farmers market we hold every year at our annual Community Harvest Festival has been really successful, we got the idea to expand it to cover the whole growing season," said Jill Shankel, environmental education coordinator for the Mercer County Conservation District based at Munnel Run Farm.
