The Associated Press A Portersville midwife should be charged with homicide in the death of a newborn after a breech delivery at home, a coroner ruled Friday. Judith Wilson, Lawrence County, was grossly negligent and her skills were "so sub-par as to be a gross deviation of what a reasonable midwife would do in such circumstances," wrote the hearing officer who presided over the open inquest into the death. No decision has been made as to whether to prosecute the case, said Allegheny County First Assistant District Attorney Edward Borkowski. The death of Isaac Daley has raised questions about how the state regulates midwives. |
