Fred J. Hoffman has devoted more than 36 years of his life to educating youngsters. West Hill Elementary School students from kindergarten through sixth grade showed their appreciation Monday morning by throwing their principal a surprise retirement party.

Teachers and pupils from all over the school rushed to the gymnasium to put on their program, dubbed "A Salute to Mr. Hoffman."
