Sharpsville council is considering hiring a consulting firm as it attempts to move closer to making a decision on the future of the borough's water-treatment plant.

If hired, Resource Development and Management Inc. of Forest Hills, Pa., would be asked to make a recommendation to council within 60 days. The cost would be $9,700.

"This is probably the most important decision we're going to make on council for the next few years," council President Jack Cardwell said Monday.
