Therapist opposes cap on outpatient services

By Kristen Garrett

A local physical therapist assistant is hoping senior citizens who are on Medicare will make their voices heard when it comes to a cap on outpatient physical therapy services.

One Medicare proposal before Congress is proposing a $1,500 cap on such services.

Cindy Curry, who works with Momentum Therapeutics in Hermitage, will be attending the National American Physical Therapy Association Conference in Washington, D.C., from June 18 to 22.

On June 19 the therapists are going to ask lawmakers not to impose the cap, Mrs. Curry said. She said she's hoping local residents who are on Medicare and have benefited from physical therapy will write letters to U.S. Rep. Phil English, Erie, R-3rd District, asking Congress not to impose the cap and telling their stories about how physical therapy has helped them.
