Badly injured pit bull tossed
from car; reward offered

The Humane Society of Mercer County is offering a $200 reward to anyone able to offer information leading to the arrest of the person who dumped a badly injured dog in a Hermitage neighborhood Sunday.

Several people having a picnic on Reon Street watched as someone in a red Dodge Aries flung an injured pit bull terrier out of the car and drove away.

Covered in mud, the dog managed to get to a nearby yard, where it collapsed, police said. The 6- to 7-month-old dog had multiple puncture and bite wounds and was bleeding, police said. After cleaning the dog, deep puncture wounds were located in its head and neck. The dog also had a puncture wound on its leg.
