for alternative education program By Kristen Garrett Herald Staff Writer
The Alternative Education Program for elementary students in the Sharon City School District is being eliminated while the students in grades six to 12 will be moving to a new building. Sharon has joined the Advanced Charter Enterprise School which caters to elementary school students with behavioral and mental health issues. Superintendent Dr. Donna DeBonis said Wednesday the Alternative Education Program will no longer be needed. ACES may not be ready at the start of the school year but there are other programs available to help those students in the meantime, Dr. DeBonis said. She added that it's atypical for students to be placed in those programs during the first month of school anyway. |
