1 span opens, work to start on 2nd

While the status of one Mercer County bridge, the Oakland Avenue Viaduct in Sharon, remains in virtual limbo, work has progressed on two other spans.

Mercer County Commissioners are expected to approve today a $308,683 contract with Marricco Construction Co. of McMurray, Pa., for the replacement of the Lynnwood Drive bridge in Hermitage.

Meanwhile, the Hamburg Road bridge in Hempfield Township, which has been closed since last fall, reopened June 3, Janet Reeher, an administrative assistant for the Mercer County Bridge Department, said Wednesday.
