People in Sandy Lake take their fun seriously, especially during this week's Sandy Lake Family and Friends Days. But on Saturday, there's going to be lots of fiddlin' around.

A fiddling contest overseen by area country music group Diamonds in the Rough will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, when contestants can take fiddles in hand and rosin up their bows.

"It was just something different. It just sounded like a good thing so we tried it and everyone was interested in it," said event co-chair Sondra Kasbee, referring to the community's second year of sponsoring the fiddling contest at the festival.
