project affordable? council wonders By Sherris Moreira-Byers Herald Staff Writer Plans for a new look to downtown Grove City may be taking a detour as borough council looks at proceeding more slowly than Grove City Revitalization Inc. had in mind. Some council members and Borough Manager Terence Farren are concerned about funding the $6 million project. Farren claims he was unaware of how much the borough would have to support the project financially until plans were revealed at a public meeting last month. "It comes down to affordability. Is it affordable and how is it going to be funded? A substantial portion of the entire plan was supposed to come from the borough. Most of the other revitalization projects I've heard of have been funded mainly from grants," Farren said after a council work session Thursday. He acknowledged that grants are a lot harder to come by these days. |
