Bats aren't really blind, don't swoop at people's hair and don't suck blood from unsuspecting victims.

Well, most of them don't suck blood. Just a few exotic South American varieties -- not the small brown and red bats in this area.

Jan Keller, a park naturalist at Maurice K. Goddard State Park, will hold a special program this evening to showcase the furred flying mammals and try to dispel some myths surrounding them.

The program will be held from 7:45 to 9:30 at the Environmental Learning Classroom, located near the boat marina at the park.
