affect his parenting Herald Staff Writer Ken Stallsmith doesn't allow the challenge of being legally blind hide his love and adoration for his children. As this 44-year-old father of two and foster father of three sits talking about his family, his 5-year-old foster son, who has been peeking around the corner, hands him a piece of paper, which declares his appreciation for his parents. Stallsmith thanks his son for the letter and gives the boy a big bear hug. Stallsmith says things like this happen all the time; the children always leave a note or card for their parents. Stallsmith says he doesn't think of himself as a phenomenal father -- he's just a dad who tries to do for his children what his father never did for him. |
