Next school year, property owners in Wilmington Township, Mercer County, will see their property taxes rise, as will property owners in the Lawrence County communities that comprise Wilmington Area School District.

School board members Monday adopted a $14,358,940 package for 2003-04 that represents a 5.84 percent increase in spending over this year's budget of $13,566,138.

To support the increases, Mercer County property owners will pay 53.8 mills, up from 49 mills, and Lawrence County property owners will pay 10.8 mills. The figures differ because of different assessments, but a state Tax Equalization Board formula makes the dollar figure the same.
