With industrial employment on the downswing in Mercer County, the chairman of the Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Commission is hoping workers who have lost their jobs and are seeking new careers will consider police work.

After three weeks of advertising for part-time patrolmen, the commission has received only four applications, Chairman James DeCapua said Tuesday.

Today is the final day to apply.
