No new sidewalks yet at Malleable Heights

Mercer County Housing Authority board Wednesday rejected the only bid for installation of asphalt sidewalks and drainage at Malleable Heights in Sharon.

Anderson Construction Co. Inc. of Reynolds offered to do the work for $73,000.

Authority Executive Director L. Dewitt Boosel, who can advise board members but does not vote, recommended rejecting the bid, saying it was over budget. "I feel we can resubmit this and get more bidders," he said.

The work to correct erosion problems was included in this year's budget and the authority is "very anxious" to see it completed, Boosel said.

The authority advertised for three weeks but will do so again.
