If the people who watch over spending in the city of Sharon violate a proposed new ordinance, they could find themselves hit with a fine. Council voted Thursday on the first reading of a proposed law that sets a quarterly allotment for spending. There is no expiration on the ordinance. In an attempt to add strength to the ordinance, Council President Fred Hoffman said violating the ordinance will be a summary offense. A first violation would be a fine of $10 to $50, he said. A second offense and thereafter could cost the offender $250 to $500 plus any court costs that would be involved, he added. |
