A local businessman has managed to get East to meet West.

William Allen, owner of the $9.99 Computer Store in Greenville, along with Egyptian venture capitalist Mohamed Essa, have started a new enterprise to build Internet kiosks.

Dubbed Net Speed Kiosk, the five-foot tall free-standing kiosk is designed to hold a computer for use on the Internet. The two-man partnership is looking to install the metal centers at hotels, bus stops and airports.

"The concept is to make Internet access available for travelers or individuals who don't have Internet access on the road,'' Allen said.
