Water customers complain of odor

Customers of Consumers Pennsylvania Water Co. Shenango Valley Division were complaining Wednesday of foul smelling water.

One Sharon woman said the water had a "swampy'' odor, called the utility to complain and was told by a representative they were aware of the problem and had received other complaints.

Messages left for managers at the utility's Sharon office, Sharon water treatment plant and Boardman, Ohio, office were not immediately returned Wednesday.

It was believed the problem was an algae bloom, a common phenomenon this time of the year. Consumers serves much of the Shenango Valley, Brookfield, Masury, Hubbard and parts of northern Lawrence County.
