can expect more in taxes By Kristen Garrett Herald Staff Writer
Taxpayers who live in West Middlesex Area School District can expect to shell out an additional $80 in taxes next year. By an 8-1 vote Thursday, directors adopted an $11,085,252 budget that includes a 3.9-mill tax hike. Kevin Kirk cast the "no" vote. He said he is disappointed that fewer teachers are being replaced than left the district. He said larger class sizes do not "enhance education." Thirteen teachers retired and directors are planning to replace only 9è of the positions, board President Thomas Hubert said. He said the assistant high school principal position was also eliminated. Larry Ellison was the assistant principal but was appointed to fill the high school principal position left vacant by Russell Ridenbaugh, who retired. |
