College community bids farewell to Moore

A fond farewell for a fond friend occurred Tuesday afternoon at Grove City College. School president Dr. John Moore was feted after seven years of service.

"I would say the community relations under Dr. Moore were exemplary," said Doug Thomas of Grove City, who is also a Grove City school board member. "The availability of the college to the community was strengthened. He's a gentleman."

Nancy Paxton, vice president of student affairs at the college and employed by the school for 27 years, agreed. "His time here has been outstanding. Probably what I would remember the most is the support he gives those who work with him. Through thick and thin, he lends so much support."
Dr. Moore and his wife Sue are moving soon to Florida, where he will give more time to volunteer organizations that he is interested in. As a trustee of the Earhart Foundation, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., he has helped to support graduate fellowship programs in the humanities across the country and internationally. He will also get more involved with Civilian Research and Development Foundation in Washington, D.C.
