Heated talks fail to resolve dispute over renovations

According to Joe Herrmann, a 17-year-old senior on the Jamestown High School basketball team, just two teams and two hoops are important in a basketball game, not the size of the gym.

"It's all about talent," he said. "It's not the gym that makes a difference."

But still, he said, playing at Jamestown's gym is a bit of a different experience.

"When people first walk into our gym, there's a look of shock on their faces," Herrmann said. "There are differences, like there isn't as much seating and the 3-point lines aren't as wide as at other schools."

When he heard the school board was planning to add a new gym to the high school renovation project, he thought it was a great idea.
