A Brookfield woman lost her malpractice case against a Butler County, Pa., gynecologist Wednesday after a two-day federal jury trial before U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab. In 2001, Anita Brownlee sued Dr. Ronald Cypher, claiming he didn't diagnose her cancer before giving her a hysterectomy in June 2001. Ms. Brownlee, who had been Cypher's patient since 1995, said she had to undergo other treatments to remove bowel and pancreatic cancer that other doctors discovered, but Cypher missed altogether. Cypher said he wasn't able to determine when Ms. Brownlee's cancer developed. In Ms. Brownlee's complaint, she said she has suffered as a result of her ordeal and has become partly disabled. |
