Mercer County Conservation District hopes to unveil construction plans by mid-September, but it's looking at a price tag of about a quarter of a million dollars.

Last summer the district retained the Sharon architectural-engineering firm of HHSDR to undertake a study of the facilities, which was completed earlier this year.

"They assessed the buildings for classroom and meeting space and storage, and how much money it would take to renovate them," said Jim Mondok, the district's manager. "Part of their charge was to find or recommend a building or houses to house office space and for classroom and meeting space for the Munnell Run Farm itself. The office facilities would be for the conservation district, which manages the farm."

The district, which includes Munnell Run Farm on Route 58, has struggled with finding enough room for office and storage space. When the district offers different environmental classes at the farm throughout the year, the need for meeting and classroom space competes with the need for public restrooms.
