Stray dog rescued and now needs a good home

By Kristen Garrett

After at least eight months on her own, a stray dog was rescued by some Shenango Township residents, and now she needs a home.

Residents in the area of Wansack, Wheatland and Seig Hill roads, Pullam Drive and Paul Street have been trying to rescue the black, Spaniel-mix dog for months, said Marlene Stofan. Mrs. Stofan said people left food out for the dog, whom people called "Blackie," but the dog wouldn't go near anyone.

"If anybody would try to get near her, her rear end would hit the ground and she would take off running," Mrs. Stofan said.

Marlene's husband, Mark, said if the dog was eating in their back yard 100 feet away from the house, and she saw movement inside she would run away.
