to sales tax hike is mostly negative By Patrecka F. Adams The latest state sales tax hike has left some Ohioans upset and others anxious to know when the increases will stop. Brookfield resident Emery Evans said he's concerned about the tax's permanency. Evans said when taxation first began many years ago, it wasn't supposed to be for necessities such as clothing and housing, but that's exactly what is taxed now. "Taxation will keep on going and going," he said. "Little by little (it keeps going up). You just have to grin and bear it." He said he has other tax worries as well, including annual school levies. Evans' wife Carole agreed, saying the increase will make life a little more difficult for people who, like herself, are on fixed incomes. |
