A Hermitage man has allowed charges related to the death of another city man to proceed to court. Seth A. Mikulin, 23, of 3576 Pleasant Drive, was charged by Hermitage police with homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while driving drunk, drunken driving and driving on the wrong side of the road in the death of William Shannon, 72, of 685 N. Buhl Farm Drive. At a preliminary hearing Wednesday, Mikulin's attorney, James DePasquale of Pittsburgh, agreed that, if witnesses were called, prosecutors could show that a crime occurred and Mikulin might have been involved. District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, held the charges for court. Police charged Mikulin with causing the May 31 traffic accident on Highland Road. Mikulin's car crossed the center line at 11:14 p.m. and crashed head-on into a pickup driven by Shannon, police said. Shannon died at 4:12 a.m. June 11 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown. Mikulin's blood-alcohol level was 0.228, which is more than twice the legal limit, police said. |
