Nonprofit group eyed
for street-fair booths

There's about $400 up for grabs for a local nonprofit group to earn during the 46th annual Grove City Street Fair on South Broad Street this year.

The Business Promotion Committee of Grove City, which is planning the event this year under the auspices of Grove City Chamber of Commerce, is looking for a group to work two ticket booths for rides.

The rides will be offered from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 6 and noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 7-9, and the committee is looking for two booths to be manned during those hours.

"We're going to pay $6 an hour (for each booth)," said Jackie Kovach, executive director of the chamber. "We're looking for nonprofit groups, such as football boosters, baseball boosters, youth groups from the churches. I would like to keep the money in Grove City to help a local nonprofit organization."

The only stipulations are that teens be no younger than 16 and any teen under 18 would have to be supervised by a parent or an adult to satisfy labor laws, Mrs. Kovach said. "It's a great way for an organization to make money in four days. We want to help the nonprofits out."
