By Patrecka F. Adams Herald Staff Writer Trumbull County commissioners voted Wednesday to switch water providers to customers in four townships, saying it will result in "considerable savings." Commissioners awarded the city of Niles a contract to provide water to part of Brookfield, Liberty, Vienna and Hubbard townships that are being served by Consumers Ohio Water Co. Tom Holloway, county sanitary engineer, negotiated the contract, said Rex Fee, assistant county sanitary engineer. The contract will allow the county to buy water for the townships at a rate of $1.53 per 1,000 gallons. Fee said Consumers was charging $3.05 per 1,000 gallons. |
