Roger Speer was resigned to not having any power at his home this weekend. "There's nothing much you can do about it," he said after 20 hours without electricity. "Just sit around and wait for it to come back on." Speer lives on Frogtown Road in Lackawannock Township. When heavy storms swept through the area Friday afternoon, he said his power went off abruptly around 5 p.m. "Then it came back on for a little bit around 7:30 in the morning," he said. "Just long enough to make a pot of coffee. Then it was off again until 11." Like Speer, thousands of people in Mercer and Lawrence counties were without power Friday night and Saturday. Pennsylvania Power Co. expects power to be restored to all customers by late today. |
