Dan Dilley hopes people in the Shenango Valley will continue to participate in what has become a tradition that saves lives.

Dilley, donor resources assistant for the Greater Allegheny Region of the American Red Cross, said this year will be the 11th annual Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh Blood Drive.

"It really has become a tradition. It's a great tradition," Dilley said.

The blood drive will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the Rosemont Banquet and Conference Center, Sharon, and the Rosemont provides a pasta dinner to all donors. "The Rosemont just does an exceptional job," Dilley said.

Sharon Regional Health System and volunteers from the Mercer County chapter of the Red Cross also contribute their help throughout the day, Dilley said.

The goal is to collect 200 units of blood.
