must be pretreated, city is informed By Kristen Garrett Herald Staff Writer
Along with all the sewage problems in Sharon, now city officials have to look at the waste being sent by local industries to the sewage-treatment plant. The state Department of Environmental Protection issued a wastewater discharge permit to the city, a news release from DEP said. The permit is through the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System and requires the city to submit a pretreatment program to the federal Environmental Protection Agency, the release said. The permit deals with the pretreatment of industrial waste, Freda Tarbell of the DEP said. She said waste produced by industries must be pretreated before the waste is sent to the city's sewage-treatment plant. |
