Council sets special meeting
to decide fate of water plant

Sharpsville Council President Jack Cardwell is determined that council will decide the fate of the borough's water-treatment plant by the end of the month.

Council set a special meeting for July 23. Cardwell said Monday that at that meeting, council will decide what is going to be done with the plant.

Councilman Guy Moderelli said council has not discussed every option for the plant.

Cardwell said that's what will happen at the upcoming meeting.

"It'll be an all-nighter then," Moderelli said.

Council has to look at the plant and decide if expansion or modification would be acceptable or if it would make more sense to build a new treatment facility. There is also an option to sell the plant to Consumers Pennsylvania Water Co., Shenango Valley Division.

Council members also have yet to decide if they're going to hire a consulting firm to help them make a decision on the future of the plant.
