Groups invited to be in parade on Buhl Day

Applications are being taken for those wishing to take part in the annual Buhl Day Parade. Sign-up deadline is Aug. 1.

The event is set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 1. The parade route is about three miles from its start at the Plaza on State Street to its finish at the entrance of Buhl Farm, Hermitage.

Community and youth groups, organizations and agencies can take part to showcase their service to the area.

Walking units, floats, cars and costumed performers also are welcome to join the fun.

Community members who have given their time, leadership and goodwill will lead the parade as honored guests.

Extra hands also are needed to serve as parade marshals, assisting in lining up participants.

Candy should not be thrown and water should not be shot from cars or floats.

Advertisements and political campaign signs cannot be exhibited. All vehicles are to refrain from sounding sirens or horns along Buhl Boulevard.

Past participants have been sent letters, but new entries are encouraged. A letter also will be sent out near the end of August confirming a group's participation and giving information on the parade report area.
