He wonders why residents didn't call

No one living near the intersection of Glenwood Drive and Wengler Avenue is quite sure how a tractor-trailer with a 54-foot van ended up in their quiet residential neighborhood just off the Shenango Valley Freeway about three weeks ago.

What they are quite sure about, however, is the damage that rig left behind.

And that damage, a gaping 4-by-5-foot hole over a sewer grate at the intersection, has left neighbors gaping over the lack of response from city officials to fix the problem, especially, they say, considering the fact that more than three dozen school-age children live in the immediate vicinity.

A game of "release" brings more than a dozen kids to the area almost nightly during the summer, neighbors said. And while nobody has been injured so far, there is a growing concern among residents that it's only a matter of time before someone does.
