If state wildlife officials had wings, they'd be busily flapping them with glee. What has them so excited is the record number of osprey nests found in Ohio this year -- 22 to be exact -- and the 40 chicks that were hatched from them. Two of the nests were found in Trumbull County, one at Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area, Cortland, and the other at Grand River Wildlife Area, West Farmington. The fish-eating hawks are an endangered species, though they were fairly common across the state at one time. |
